My sizing (5’6” Size 6) preferences for women are below:
100% cotton so they will shrink a bit
Medium for a classic relaxed t-shirt fit
Large for slightly oversized comfy fit
XL is longer but has a nice shape; making it my favorite to cut about 12 inches and crop for a more chic look with linen trousers this summer or keep it long to throw in your lake bag as a cover-up or extra fit for dinner
2XL is my favorite to where as a t-shirt dress over swimsuits to the lake

For men sizing is true to size but may shrink after one wash if in between sizes size up
